Operator Overcomes His Attachment to Tickets and Tokens
Like many operators, John Bailon was skeptical about switching from tokens and tickets to a game card system. “I’m old school, so I am tickets and tokens… I like kids to be holding something, and it was a little harder for me to be convinced that something like this would work,” he said.
Once he switched to Amusement Connect’s card system, guests and staff took to it immediately. Now he’s running all his locations on Amusement Connect.

Improvement in client relations
Overcoming negative perceptions with staff at multiple locations:
Before implementing a card system, John and his team had negative perceptions by employees at his locations. “Every time there was an issue with the old school methods of tickets and tokens, we were looked up with derision or general hate that we walked in. Or they would roll their eyes at us that he’s here to fix something that’s not going to work again as soon as he leaves,” he says.
John had reservations about switching to an expensive, bulky card system—especially after hearing about technical support issues. He discovered Amusement Connect at an industry trade show and having a better alternative was enticing.
He decided to start with Amusement Connect’s system at one location as a real litmus test to see how his clientele would react to the interface. To John’s surprise, the employees and guests caught on immediately.
After implementing Amusement Connect’s system, employees at his locations are in tune with it, and there are fewer headaches with the arcades. They can also focus their attention on serving guests without dealing with problems with the games malfunctioning.
Now that the technology has proven itself, he felt comfortable enough to use it at every location. His recommendation is, “If any of you are on the fence when it comes to a card reading system, this is the one you want to try in terms of how they work with you with your budget, what your needs are, and when you’re in a situation in how your room is layed out, they’re here to help you.”
